Summer In Arosa Summer In Arosa
Not to be missed is the multi media water show on the Obersee. You can, of course, also laze on sunny terraces in the village, shop for lovely things and enjoy many free activities with the Arosa Card - such as boat hire, swimming or sunbathing at the natural swimming and 'beach' area, and the local bus.

The hipnotising water show takes place every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday at 9.50 p.m. on the Obersee. It is free to watch - a collection is made for charity.

In the village many interesting shops beckon. It doesn't matter if you want to treat yourself or your loved ones.

There are lots of free things to take advantage of with the Arosa Card. A boat trip on the Obersee, the romantic natural swimming and sunbathing area at the Untersee with its restaurant, heated children's pool, beach volleyball and sandy 'beach'. The indoor ice rink is a great choice should the weather not be to your liking, and of course the many children's playgrounds.

The Junior Club, providing children's activities, can be found a short walk from Chalet Runca, as can the lovely picnic and grilling areas, the 18 hole golf course, tennis courts, mini golf and last but not least the village bus which delivers you comfortably to all the above places if you don't fancy the walk.

Stunning Summer hikes Stunning Summer hikes
From unspoilt valleys to traditional huts! Here in Arosa you will find over 200 kilometres of maintained walking and winter hiking paths. You really should explore some of the hidden valleys in the vale of Schanfigg... magnificent nature, wooden huts and open hospitality.
One recommended outing is a visit to the Lüen powerstation, which was built by Chur town in 1913.

You can reach Sapün from Langwies in just about two hours. There, the mountain restaurant Heimeli also has rooms in which you can stay overnight.

The ski hut Pirigen and the mountain restaurant Casanna in Fondei can also be reached from Langwies. These mountain cabins can be reached on foot from Langwies in about two hours.

Another very special outing is the hike to the Walser village of Medergen, 2,000 m above sea level. The picturesque village still exists today without running water and electricity. Pay a visit to the charming Restaurant Alpenrose with its traditional specialities from the grill.

Winter and Summer Shopping Winter and Summer Shopping
The best way to get an overview of the diversity of Arosa's shops is to stroll up and down its main street, Poststrasse. If you're looking for equipment or clothing that will keep you competitive in this sports-conscious town, head for Sprecher Sports, Carmena Sport, or Schatz Sport, Poststrasse, near the Hotel Kulm. If it's Grisons souvenirs you're looking for, head for Vital, next to UBS bank and the pharmacy). The best bet for a winning mixture of books (mostly in German, but with some in English and French) and Grisons-inspired souvenirs and gift items is Banker, Oberseeplatz. Delicacies are proudly presented, and especially in Cindy's Delicatessen & Gifts, where it is very hard to leave without the owner having found the perfect thing for you – she is amazing! Other than that, your best bet is to simply wander along either side of the street. There are small clothes boutiques, previously zurich-based hairdressers, health food shops, a Kodak shop, two newsagents with international papers, tea rooms, flower shops and 5* hotel boutiques. Home Sweet Home is an interior designer shop, there are kitchen show rooms, and wonderful art shops. (Certainly more boutiques and shops than Verbier:).
And for those who are serious about a great shopping experience, one hour by the “Arosa Express” trains, stops right at the old city wall gates, to enter the pedestrian-zone of shops, and then heading toward the main train station by foot you come across all the departmental stores. Trains run hourly and a return adult ticket costs 26 CHF.

Winter and Summer Glacier Express Winter and Summer Glacier Express
Advertised as the 'slowest express train in the world', the Glacier Express is also the most panoramic, and is a breathtaking way to experience the magnificence of the Swiss Alps. The seven and a half hour journey begins daily from Zermatt or St. Moritz.. The train can be taken in either direction, and if time is short it is possible to travel along a short section of the route, starting at Chur, (three hours to St. Moritz, 4.5 hours to Zermatt), but either way it is advisable to make advance bookings as the train is very popular. From Chur, there are several departures a day during summer and two a day in winter.
The red mountain train crosses more than 291 bridges, winds its way through 91 tunnels and seven valleys and over the 6,670ft (2,033m) Oberalp Pass, through Chur, and on to the resort of St Moritz, in a spectacular feat of mountain engineering. The train is equipped with large windows for clear viewing and the scenery, including mountain panoramas, quaint villages and wooden chalets, forests and alpine pastures, is stunning. A dining car provides lunch and the mini-bar contains tilted wine glasses to counter the lean of the carriages along the steep mountainous route.
